Employment impact assessment of the Ecler Ivoire project in Cote d’Ivoire

This report aims to assess the impact of the Ecler Ivoire project on the creation of direct, indirect and induced employment as well as whether the jobs created are decent.

For a summary of the report and its main findings, please see the Information Brief on the right side.

Under the STRENGTHEN2 initiative, this report assesses the employment impacts of the Ecler Ivoire project - a rural electrification project in Côte d'Ivoire of 12 million euros financed by the European Union. The main findings show that the jobs created are predominantly occupied by adult men, to the detriment of women and young people (aged 15 to 24). As a result, the report puts forward policy recommendations aimed at improving employability and increasing opportunities and working conditions for women and young people in Côte d'Ivoire's energy sector.
