    Hayat project aims to strengthen economic security in five Upper Egyptian mother villages (districts of Edwa and Maghagha in Minya governorate) through creation of better employment opportunities and increase in employability of the local labour force.

    The RMG Center of Excellence (COE) Project is designed to establish in Bangladesh a replicable model of an industry-driven training and support services Centre of Excellence (COE) for the Ready Made Garment sector. This will implement certified training within the national skills development policy (NSDP) of Bangladesh.

  5. Mt. Sinabung Recovery Support Programme (SIRESUP)

    The Sinabung Recovery Support Programme (SIRESUP) is a joint programme in supporting the post-disaster recovery of the regions affected by the 2013 Mt. Sinabung volcanic eruptions in Karo District of North Sumatra. The joint programme is designed to improve sustainable livelihoods recovery and enhanced community resilience in affected areas through strengthening local capacity in post-disaster recovery measures, restoring livelihoods and developing economic opportunities, and incorporating risk-reduction principles.

    One of the key components of the ILO’s response to the Syrian refugee crisis is to enhance employment opportunities and livelihoods in underprivileged host communities.

  9. Livelihood restoration, protection and sustainable empowerment of vulnerable peasant communities in Sindh province

    With funding from the Human Security Trust Fund (UN-HSTF), the ILO in Pakistan is implementing a UN Joint Program on livelihood restoration in collaboration with FAO and UN Women in the Province of Sindh. This project was designed in response to the July 2010 monsoon rains which flooded a significant part of Pakistan with Sindh Province being hardest hit. The UN Joint program aims to restore and protect the livelihoods of the vulnerable rural population in Sindh by improving their on-farm productive capacities and off-farm income generating activities.

    The project aims to support in developing, demonstrating and disseminating a regional strategy or approach to promote employment creation in post-natural disaster recovery, reconstruction and development work. Whilst many countries in Asia and the Pacific region have experienced a large number of disasters every year, they have accumulated a rich body of knowledge and experience on how to prepare for and recover from natural hazards. The project is expected to contribute to further advancing this knowledge and the exchange of such knowledge and mutual learning between countries in the Region that are prone to large-scale and/or frequent natural disasters.
