Inter-Agency Workshop: Employment and Social Inclusion in a Green Economy

The workshop will bring together governments interested in green economy and green jobs assessments and international agencies such as UNEP, UNIDO, UNITAR; OECD, DCED, GIZ and ILO.

The objective of the workshop is to:
• share knowledge about the range of approaches, research and operational tools applied in countries
• identify opportunities to connect and scale up related initiatives at country level

Issues to be discussed will include: How can employment in the green economy be assessed at national level? Which economic sectors offer greatest opportunities? How can useful analysis best be undertaken, and what evidence exists that national green economy initiatives are creating more jobs, and for whom? What are the needs for skills and human capacity development, in particular among youth?

ILO assessments on green jobs potential In the past years, the ILO has noted a growing demand among its member states for guidance on green jobs. A crucial first step in creating green jobs and developing a greener economy is to carry out preliminary assessments that outline the potential implications of different policy choices.
