  1. Promoting green jobs policies: employment potential and skill needs in a greener economy

    The overall objective of this course is to provide a conceptual and strategic framework for the promotion of green jobs at the national level, by focusing on the social and employment dimensions of the green economy. Special attention will be given to the assessment of employment potential and the analysis of skill needs, through sectoral, cross-sector and country analysis in view of informing national policy initiatives. Target audience: representatives from Ministries of Labour/Employment and social partners, as well as government officials from other line Ministries (e.g. Environment, Planning, Finance, etc.), national and international development agencies, civil society organisations and academia. Deadline for application: 8 April 2013

  2. Inter-Agency Workshop: Employment and Social Inclusion in a Green Economy

    The ILO organizes an Inter-Agency Workshop in collaboration with UNEP, UNIDO and UNITAR under the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) and the Green Growth Working Group of the Donor Committee for Enterprise Development (DCED). Participants of this workshop will review and compare current approaches, tools and practices to assess and promote jobs and social inclusion in a green economy.

  3. Green Jobs Learning Forum. Local Strategies and Actions

    This is a practitioners’ Learning Forum. Thus, it provides participants with knowledge, tools and examples of good practices to enhance their skills in the design and implementation of effective local strategies for the promotion of green jobs through private sector development.

  4. ILO at Rio + 20: United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development

    ILO member countries and social partners have endorsed a set of key messages for the outcome of the summit in June. They call for a stronger coherence between the three pillars of sustainable development and urge the importance of creating more and better employment opportunities while enabling the transition to a green economy.

  7. 15th Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting – Special session on “Sustaining the Future with Green Jobs”

    This panel shares information on the opportunities and challenges created by the shift to sustainable patterns of growth. It looks at ways that 'climate smart' policies can create jobs while ensuring the just transition necessary to allow workers and employers to adapt to new roles and responsibilities.

  8. Water in the Green Economy in Practice: Towards Rio+20

    07 October 2011

    The event placed a special focus in showcasing already successful projects of how water can be a major contributor to developing a green economy. At the end of the conference, UN-Water issued a draft best practice guide to actions, instruments and policies to progress towards a green economy for sustainable development and poverty eradication. The ILO participated and contributed to the conference.

  9. Green Jobs: linking climate change and the world of work

    This course seeks to address the many impediments to the promotion of green jobs worldwide, by providing governments and social partners the needed knowledge and tools to assess potentialities, monitor progress, close skills gaps and decide on investments.
