Financial Inclusion in France and Developed countries: measuring the social impact of microcredit and fostering public/private partnerships

The ILO, with the support from the Mission for Social Innovation and Experimentation and Social economy, in the French French Ministry of Economy, Industry and Digital, is exploring how to measure the social impact of microcredit in a European country – France, with a view to develop joint indicators within the Social economy actors and the public institutions that support their activities and more broadly to explore the role of microcredit and support to enterprise creation as a tool for reintegration on the labour market, enterprise development and job creation.

- A publication that summarizes the findings on the effects of microcredit on employment in France and offers some recommendations to improve financial and non-financial support to enterprise creation by the unemployed in the future. This was discussed during a conference organized in Paris in February 2015.

Based on the results of this project and going further in the cooperation between the ILO and the Mission for Social Innovation and Experimentation and Social economy, a new project will be implemented from 2016, focusing on the role of social economy, including social finance instruments, in the world of work.
