Projet de promotion du travail décent pour la réduction de la pauvreté dans les communautés vulnérables à la traite des enfants au Cameroun.

Size/duration: 1 January 2008 - 30 April 2010
In support of measures being taken by the Government of Cameroon to reduce poverty and unemployment, the ILO has initiated a technical cooperation project to promote local economic development in communities vulnerable to child trafficking in three districts in North-west Cameroon. The project falls under the Netherlands- ILO Cooperation Program (NICP). The project team, based in Bamenda, works closely with local Councils in elaborating and executing local development plans with a view to diversifying the local economy, enhancing opportunities for decent work and improving living conditions of the population. The project builds on previous efforts of the ILO to combat child trafficking in the region. Using LED as a preventive measure is a new and promising aspect of this project. It targets marginalised sections of the population, particularly indigenous peoples (Mbororos) and persons living with HIV/AIDS.
