Interregional Academy on Social and Solidarity Economy

The International Training Center of the ILO, based in Turin is organizing, jointly with the European Economic and Social Committee, the first edition of the Interregional Academy on Social and Solidarity Economy

We are pleased to announce that the International Training Center of the ILO, based in Turin is organizing, jointly with the European Economic and Social Committee, the first edition of the:

Interregional Academy on Social and Solidarity Economy

from 25 to 29 of October 2010

Venue: ITC-ILO (Turin)

The Academy will bring together the best of worldwide expertise on Social and Solidarity Economy and will draw lessons from Africa, Latin America, Asia, Europe and the Arab states. It will strongly engage participants, especially thanks to its innovative learning strategy built around different learning tracks in many areas relevant to the concept of SSE:

Getting a common understanding of the concept of SSE

Exploring the link between Social and solidarity Economy and the for pillars of the ILO Decent Work Agenda (employment, social protection, social dialogue and International Labour standards)

Policy and legal framework for the promotion and development of Social and Solidarity Economy

Governance and Management of Social and Solidarity Economy organisations and enterprises

Partnership building and networking of Social and Solidarity Economy institutions

The ILO Social and Solidarity Economy is meant for a variety of participants with different profiles: policy makers in various ministries (labour, women affairs, youth, social affairs…); workers and employers organizations; practitioners of SSE ( leaders, managers, local governments) and promoters of social and solidarity economy organizations ( development agencies, donors, UN agencies).

The ILO SSE Academy will be offered in English, French and Spanish.

In addition, we would very much welcome your support in implementing the following tasks:

Promote the Academy with partner agencies that are operating in the field of social economy

Forward the information to (or provide us with the contact details of) key people in National Ministries (Labour, Social affairs, Economy) and Agencies (for MSME development, Social Funds,) that could benefit from the Academy in the countries under your responsibility;

Select staff members or people within projects that require capacity building in these areas.
