Key Indicators of the Labour Market (KILM), Seventh Edition

Published every two years since 1999, the KILM is a collection of 18 key indicators of the labour market, ranging from employment and variables relating to employment (status, sector, hours, etc.), the lack of work, the conditions of work (wages, compensation costs, working poverty, etc.) and the characteristics of jobseekers, (education, labour productivity). Taken together, the indicators give a strong foundation from which to begin addressing key questions related to productive employment and decent work.

Type: Database

You can access the KILM data and manuscript from two sources, KILMnet and the KILM 7th Edition software. Both products are updated on a regular basis. The KILM publication will be available in early 2012.

KILMnet is the online KILM web site at http://kilm.ilo.org/kilmnet. You can view data, download spreadsheets, and view data using a world map. Data can be filtered by country, year, sex and age group, where appropriate. KILMnet is accessible from any web browser. KILMnet is currently in English only.

The KILM 7th Edition software is a custom application that is installed on a PC. Both data and program are automatically updated via the Internet when you open the software, however, the program does not require an internet connection to run. The software allows the user to build queries to view and export data in multiple formats. View data in a grid or with a world map. Create word processor reports. Export data to spreadsheets, MS Access databases and comma-delimited files. Copy and paste data. Graph data and export the cross-tab data and graphs to Excel. Data can be filtered on multiple parameters and sorted on up to four columns. Create country reports – word processor documents or spreadsheets that include filtered data from multiple tables for a single country. Nine new tables of regional data are now available. It operates in English, French and Spanish. Microsoft Windows PCs only.
