LEGAL DEFINITIONS

Any natural person who has entered into an employment relationship on the basis of an employment contract.

Procedure


Government decides after consultation of the social partners

The minimum wage shall be increased by the responsible Minister, corresponding to the expected yearly rise in consumer prices, after consulting the social partners, and be published in the official gazette.

Wages may also be determined through collective agreement, provided that they are more favourable than those fixed by legislation.

The minimum wage is adjusted every year at 1 August. On 1 March 2008, the Minimum Wage rate was exceptionally increased.
