Central African Republic - Minimum Wages - 2011

Every natural person, no matter which sex, race, religion or nationality, who engages to provide his/her professional activity, perceiving remuneration, under the direction or authority of another natural or moral person, public or private, to be called employer.

Every natural or moral person, of public or private law, who disposes of the service of one or more workers by means of an employment contract.

Salary is the counterpart of work performed.
The remuneration comprehends the basic salary and all other advantages paid directly or indirectly in cash, or in kind, by the employer to the worker.

Government decides after tripartite or bipartite body discussions/recommendations

Orders enacted by the Minister of Labour, after consultation with the Permanent National Labour Council by the Minister of Labour, shall:
- determine the interprofessional minimum wages and the agricultural minimum wages.

Whenever a collective agreement does not forseen it, an order from the Minister of Labour, after having consulted the Permanent National Labour Council, shall establish:

- the minimum wage for each professional category.

» Piece-rate workers

The remuneration for piece-rate and task workers shall be calculated in such a way that it provides to the worker a salary at least equal to an employee working full-time, if performing an analogous job.

The minimum wages as well as the conditions of the remuneration for piece-rate and task workers shall be displayed in the employer’s bureau and in the staff pay sites.
