Comments and Observations:ITF (5 June 2019)
Owners have ignored previous attempts from ITF to establish contact and negotiate settlement. Three months wages are outstanding for current crew. It should also be noted that members of previous crew have reported that they were not paid before disembarking.

Message from owner on 3 June claims to have paid outstanding wages. 5 crew have disembarked and we understand that they were paid, but we have no confirmation for the remaining crew.

We are concerned that the problem will repeat.

ILO/IMO (13 August 2020)
The e-mail message of 11 August 2020 was received from the crew of the ‘GRAND FERRY’ (IMO Number 8003620), Flag: Palau, which is abandoned since 21 May 2019 in the Port of Hamad, Qatar, having on board seafarers from Ukraine (24), Indonesia (3), Greek (3) and Iran (2).

We duly note the information provided by the crew that apparently, also the ‘M/V SUNNY’ (IMO Number 7925297, Flag: Palau), has been abandoned, and that according to the MLC 2006 Convention rules and regulations the flag State is the first responsible regarding MLC 2006 implementation, and hence Palau as flag State has been informed several times in relation to two of its ships (M/V Sunny IMO NO.7925297 and M/V Grand Ferry IMO NO. 8003620- under Palau flag) concerning the MLC deviation regarding paying crew wages.

We also duly note the information provided by the crew that unfortunately with no reason the case is still open, that no action is taken by Palau as flag State and that for a long time the crew is awaiting for a positive action from the Palau flag State to receive their rights and monthly wages.

ITF (28 January 2021)
The crew who initially contacted the ITF have informed us that they have been paid and repatriated. RESOLVED.
