Subject: abandoned Filipino seamen aboard TURU

Dear Mr. de Boer,

Thank you for your email on the case of the 7 Filipino seamen abandoned aboard TURU. I have alerted our labor attaches in London and Milan to assist the Filipino seafarers and arrange for their repatriation.

ITF (14 November 2017)
P&I correspondent sent out a surveyor/consultant to the ship on Friday 10th. GWU sent emergency provisions and drinking water. Topped up the credit for the crew’s personal mobile phones. P&I asking whether a request for the vessel to enter harbour can be made..

Subject: M/V TURU IMO NO. 8408777

Dear Mr. DeBoer,

..........
Concerning the situation this General Directorate,

 Started communication with the Legal Representative in Panama (Díaz & De León) through emails (Nov.14th 2017) and Note ALM No.108-2017 explaining the situation, sending emails concerning the situation too, to the Operators (Jet Tank Maritime Co/Petro Plus Ltd.), Owners (MV Turu Limited) and the P&I in this case RaestsMarine with address in Fascinatio Bouleard 622, 2909VA Capelle aan den IJssel, Netherlands.
 We talked with the P&I (Raests Marine), with Ms. Suzanne Kerkhof, claim assistant and received two emails from Cecilia van der Wal, Claims Executive of RaestsMarine, explaining that: The Owners are not in a position to take care of his crew regrettably so they as the P&I with issued MLC certificate have been advised and have been acting to assist as soon as we were informed which was on the 9 November.
 Inclusive the P&I inform that if we have influence on the Maltese authorities to get them to allow the vessel in then it would be helpful as ITF is doing what they can in this respect but the Maltese harbour authorities have so far not been cooperating to the extent that we can take the crew off.
 Through an email dated Nov 24 2017, the Merchant Marine Directorate communicate the situation to the Transport of Malta, Merchant Shipping Directorate, in Marsa, Malta, similary this Directorate send an email to require your support with this situation.

In this sense we will continue communicating with those involved, in order to provide a prompt solution to this case.
