BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:
1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Act of Constitution of Tonga (Amendment) Act 2009.
(2) The Act of Constitution of Tonga (Cap. 2) as amended, shall be referred to in this Act, as the Principal Act.
2. Clause 59 of the Principal Act is amended by adding the following proviso at the end of the clause:
"Provided that a representative of the Nobles or of the people, who is appointed pursuant to clause 51, shall be entitled to remain as a representative until the next occurring general election, subject to any other provision contained in his commission or in this Constitution."
Passed by the Legislative Assembly this 22 day of June 2009.
