The Law on Civil Servants under the Employee's Insurances (OOW) has as its aim to bring civil servants under the legal employee's insurances. Phase two consists of the application of the Sickness Funds Act to civil servants, and phase three does the same for civil servants who cannot work due to sickness or dismissal. Two phases have also been determined for the classification of civil servants under the Unemployment Act. Until a determined date the relevant civil servants cannot be classified under the two laws. This Decree deals with the determination of these dates.

Broadens the tasks of the volunteer police workers. Allows volunteer workers to be employed as police officers in exceptional cases, provided that the volunteers have the necessary education and training to be able to perform the required duties. Secondly, the ranks of the volunteer police force are defined. Previously, ranks could only be given to police officers who received a salary. Finally, defines the legal position of the volunteer police force. Sets forth the minimum hours of work which a volunteer has to fulfil and prohibits certain activities which could impede the performance of a volunteer.

No.396), in connection with the classification of civil servants within the police sector under the Incapacity Insurance Act.

On 1 January 1998 the first phase of the Law on Civil Servants under Workers Insurances entered into force (Stb. 1997, No.768). This provided for the classification of civil servants under the Incapacity Insurance Act. To this end the above-mentioned Decrees were amended. A civil servant may be forced to undergo a medical examination, after which he or she can ask for a second exam in case of disagreement. Further amendments concern the possibility of re-locating a civil servant, the possibility of granting a supplementary payment, and benefits in the case of death of a police officer.
