Sets forth provisions [incorporating all changes through December 1989] regulating the Executive, the Parliament and the Judicature. Chapter II deals with citizenship, marriage to a citizen of Jamaica, deprivation of citizenship and commonwealth citizens. Chapter III provides for fundamental rights and freedoms of the individual, protection of right to life, freedom of movement, protection from inhuman treatment, freedom of conscience, freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and association, protection from discrimination and racial discrimination. Chapter IV concerns the establishment of the office of the Governor-General, personal staff of the Governor General and his functions. Chapter V relates to the composition of Parliament, powers and procedure of Parliament and delimitation of constituencies. Chapter VI provides for the appointment and responsibilities of Ministers and permanent Secretaries. Chapter VII deals with the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, appeals to Her Majesty in Council and Judicial Service Commission. Chapter VIII contains provisions regarding finance. Chapter IX deals with the appointment of public officers, police officers and pensions law.
