This Act provides for employment standards in the Province of Alberta. By s.18, every employer shall maintain employment records. Division 4 provides for payment of wages, minimum period for computing wages and overtime pay and deductions. Divisions 5 covers hours of work and overtime pay. Section 35 provides for the making of minimum wage Regulations. Section 36 provides for conditions of payment of less than the minimum wage to an individual person who is handicapped. Rules concerning vacations, general holidays and pay therefor are covered by Divisions 7 and 8. Division 9 relates to termination of employment. Parental benefits are provided for in Division 10, employment of young persons, Division 11. Section 77 provides for the appointment of an umpire for the collection of wages, overtime pay, entitlements and parental benefits. Divisions 17 and 18 provide for enforcement of orders of umpires and certain others. Division 20 relates to prohibitions, offenses and penalties. Repeals the Employment standards Act.
