Amends section 11 of the Citizenship Act, which grants citizenship to any person who, having ceased to be a citizen, has become a permanent resident and has resided in Canada for at least one year immediately preceding the date of the application. The amendment creates an exception, providing that the above condition does not apply to a person who has ceased to be a citizen before February 15 1977 because the parent of that person ceased to be a citizen.

The prohibition against publishing referendum results in any electoral district until the local polls have closed applies to the publication of the results of the same question asked pursuant to the Quebec Referendum Act. The amendment also provides that broadcasting undertakings in Quebec may not publish the polling results of Atlantic Canada until after the polls have closed in Quebec. The Regulation aims at maintaining the integrity of the referendum notwithstanding the different time zones across the country and at ensuring that all broadcasting undertakings are treated equally.

Numerous amendments of the Canada Labour Code regarding matters including votes on employer's last offer during a strike, and definitions of "collective agreement", "qualified medical practitioner", "standard hours of work" and "regional director". Sets out procedures for modification of work schedules by employers, and circumstances where maximum hours of work under the Code may be exceeded by ministerial permit. Allows substitution of any other holiday for a general holiday if approved by 70 per cent of the affected employees. Amends extensively provisions regarding maternity-related reassignment, maternity leave and parental leave, and work-related illnesses and injuries. Amends the Public Service Labour Relations Act to provide that during a strike a Minister may order a vote by employees on acceptance of the last offer made by the employer during collective bargaining.

(a) allow for the appointment of a judge as a case management judge;
(b) define the role and the powers of a case management judge;
(c) streamline the use of direct indictments preferred under section 577;
(d) allow for delayed severance orders;
(e) improve the protection of the identity of jurors;
(f) increase the maximum number of jurors who can hear the evidence on the merits; and
(g) provide that, in the case of a mistrial, certain decisions made during the trial are binding on the parties in any new trial.

Protecting Victims From Sex Offenders Act [2010, c. 17].

This enactment amends the Criminal Code, the Sex Offender Information Registration Act and the National Defence Act to enhance police investigation of crimes of a sexual nature and allow police services to use the national database proactively to prevent crimes of a sexual nature.

It also amends the Criminal Code and the International Transfer of Offenders Act to require sex offenders arriving in Canada to comply with the Sex Offender Information Registration Act.

It also amends the Criminal Code to provide that sex offenders who are subject to a mandatory requirement to comply with the Sex Offender Information Registration Act are also subject to a mandatory requirement to provide a sample for forensic DNA analysis.

It also amends the National Defence Act to reflect the amendments to the Criminal Code relating to the registration of sex offenders.
