Law No. 11 of 2013 amending the Legislative Decree No. 148 of 1949 concerning the Penal Code. -

This amendment adds an additional Article No. 488 to the Penal Code, which criminalizes all forms of recruitment and the use of children under the age of 18 by armed forces and armed groups, including taking part in direct combat, carrying and transporting weapons or equipment or ammunition, planting explosions, standing at checkpoints or carrying out surveillance or reconnaissance, acting as a distraction or human shield or assisting and/or serving the perpetrators in any way or form.
In addition, the law increases penalties for the crime of rape against a girl under the age of 15 years.

The Decree provides the rules for the work of minors and includes a definition of minors as any person under the age of 18. Minors under the age of 15 are not allowed to work, and between the age of 15 and 18 are only allowed to work in defined jobs and no more than 6 hours a day. Prohibits minors from working with dangerous machinery or tools.

Amends a number of articles in the Agricultural Relations Law of 1958. The amended articles provide, inter alia, that annual agricultural workers must be eighteen or above; shepherds and light work workers may be 13-15 and should be contracted through their parents or guardians. Light work is to be defined by the Minister of Labour. The Law prohibits the employment of anyone under 15 to do agricultural work and prohibits the employment of persons under 16 years of age in hard work which is to be defined by the Minister.
