    The Domestic Violence – Victims’ Protection Act 2018 adds legal protections in the workplace for people affected by domestic violence. The Act gives employees affected by domestic violence the right to:
    - take at least 10 days of paid domestic violence leave. This is separate from annual leave, sick leave and bereavement leave.
    - ask for up to 2 months short-term flexible working arrangements.
    - not be treated adversely in the workplace because they might have experienced domestic violence.

    The Act implements into law the settlement agreement signed on 2 May 2017 by or on behalf of the Crown, ACC, the 20 District Health Boards, E tū Incorporated, the New Zealand Public Service Association Te Pūkenga Here Tikanga Mahi Incorporated, the New Zealand Nurses Organisation Incorporated, and the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions Te Kauae Kaimahi Incorporated. The agreement relates to pay equity issues for care and support workers.
