    The Act addresses a possible area of unconstitutionality in the principal Act, namely the designation of presiding officers by the Minister. This is intended to enhance the independence of the judiciary. The Act also ensures that members of the judiciary at the lower court level who preside in cases emanating from the application of the principal Act receive adequate training on the principal Act, the content of which is developed by members of the judiciary.

    Amends sections 36-39 of the Competition Act 1998. Alters the manner in which the Competitions Court is constituted, and makes provision for the Competition Appeal Court's powers of appeal and review, for the terms of office of the members of the Competition Appeal Court, and for some related matters.

    Tourism Amendment Act, 2000 (No. 8 of 2000).

    Amends the Tourism Act 1993 with regard to the composition of the South African Tourism Board, and the convening of an extraordinary meeting of the Board. Also provides for measures to promote and maintain a sound working relationship between the Board and the provinces.
