    This Law amends Section 25 paragraph (g) of the Legislative Decree No. 42 of 2012 on regulating working in medical laboratories and granting licenses, that states as follows:

    Imposes penalties including imprisonment from one-to-three years and a fine ranging from SYP 300,000 to SYP 500,000 on any person who undertakes medical lab work without a valid license.
    Permits the Minister of Health to issue an order to shut down any medical laboratories operating without a license and to confiscate their equipment.

    The aim of this Resolution is to create the Disaster Management Support Centre and its departments, and to define their duties. This Resolution is composed of 7 articles. Article 1 decrees that the Centre shall be placed under the control of the Council of Ministries. Article 2 defines functions and duties of the Centre which shall include: (a) creation of a database for probable disasters; (b) development of plans to control the impact of disasters; (c) capacity building of specialists and technical cadres; (d) response to probable disasters; (e) monitoring of disasters; (f) coordination between the different competent authorities for the choice of appropriate means to respond to disasters; (g) education about large disasters; (h) preparation of studies related to alternative lodging and accommodation; and (i) disaster impact assessments. Article 3 addresses functions and duties of the departments. Article 4 subdivides the Centre into the following departments: Planning and Training; Research; Analysis and Assessment; Information and Database; Communication and Coordination; and Administrative Affairs. Articles 5-7 pertain to the subdivision and management of the departments.

    This Decree lays down requirements for the protection against ionizing radiations. The present Decree is composed of 5 Chapters divided into 28 articles. Chapter 1 deals with terms and definitions. Chapter 2 defines the scope of application. Chapter 3 provides for the following matters: protection responsibilities against ionizing radiations; safety and security; transportation and emission of radioactive materials; transfer of possession or exploitation of radiation sources to other persons; and introduction of used and consumed radioactive materials into Syria. Chapter 4 pertains to the Control Authority and to its functions and duties. Chapter 5 contains offences and penalties.

    This Law is composed of 8 chapters divided into 59 articles. Chapter I deals with terms and definitions. Chapter II pertains to Municipality Waste Disposal. Chapter III addresses provisions on industrial waste. Chapter IV provides for matters related to hazardous and toxic waste. Chapter VI recommends the care and the respect of the aesthetic of buildings in accordance with instructions and guides of the Administrative Units. Chapter VII contains offences and penalties. Chapter VIII deals with general provisions. Administrative Units shall be responsible for the gathering and transportation of municipal waste to predefined place where it shall be treated by different methods with the objective of protecting public health and environment (art. 3). The Administrative Unit Council shall issue a resolution that defines the times and places for throwing, gathering, transporting and treating waste (art. 5). Treatment of industrial waste is provided for in article 7. Articles 8-10 deal with liability of producers of industrial waste disposal and with duties and obligations of industry owners. The competent authorities shall define the plans related to free waste disposal and get rid of hazardous and toxic waste (art. 13). Bearing the costs and expenses of waste treatment are provided for in article 15. Requirements for transportation of hazardous and toxic waste are given in article 17. Kinds of hazardous and non-hazardous sanitary waste are specified in article 21. Article 25 provides for obligations to be followed by the stations of sanitary waste treatment. The Minister of Municipality and Environment shall issue the Implementing Regulation of this Law (art. 58).

    The aim of this Resolution is to fight air pollution. It's composed of 4 articles, 7 Lists and 1 Annex. This Resolution provides for the Syrian Standardization and Metrology for: air quality; maximum consented limits for water pollution caused by industrial drainage; maximum consented limits for air pollution at the pollution source; and classification of hazardous solid industrial waste and for industrial operations producing hazardous solid waste. The adoption of the National Ambient Air Quality Standards aims at the definition of the Maximum Consented Limit (MCL) for pollutants in the air in order to realize the following objectives: prevention and control of pollution; protection of the public health and environment; collection and publication of a pollutants database; comparison between air pollutant's concentration levels with the National Ambient Air Quality Standards; and, protection of air quality. List I contains the National Ambient Air Quality Standards related to SO2, NO2, O3, CO, Pb, TSP, PM-10, C6H6 and Benzo[a] Pyrene). List II provides for maximum limits of pollution discharge in the water. List III deals with maximum emission limits of air pollution parameter sources. List IV classifies hazardous waste containing more than 50mg/kg of the aforementioned elements. List V classifies the hazardous waste containing more than 5000mg/kg of the aforementioned elements. List VI classifies hazardous waste containing more than 20000 mg/kg of the aforesaid elements. List VII contains the hazardous waste containing more than 50000mg/kg of the aforesaid elements. Annex 1 contains the list of industries producing hazardous solid waste.
