    The Employment (Amendment) Act, 1997 (No. 5 of 1997).

    Inserts a new section 33bis stipulating that in cases where an enterprise is sold to another person, the employer or the new owner shall pay due benefits. Also amends s. 39, providing that an employee may be suspended without pay if he is remanded into custody or is suspected of having committed acts warranting disciplinary action. If the employee is acquitted of charges, the employer is in certain cases liable to pay remuneration due during the employee's suspension.
