    Provides for the protection of each individual against discrimination based on gender, ethnic origin, race, language, religion or belief, disability, age, sexual orientation, sexual identity, social status, property status, education, and obliges national and local authorities to ensure protection against discrimination in areas including access to employment, promotion and training, and social protection and healthcare.

Equal treatment shall be ensured irrespective of nationality, racial or ethnic origin, sex, health state, disability, language, religion, age, sexual orientation, education, financial state, social status or other personal circumstances.

    Provides for parental leave, parental benefit and right to part-time working hours. Part I deals with types of parental leave (maternity leave for 105 days, father leave for 90 days, leave for child care and leave for adoption) and types of benefits. Part II concerns family benefits: types of benefits and beneficiaries. Part III provides for payment conditions. Repeals the provisions of the Act on fundamental rights related to labour relation and of the Act on labour relations, which concern maternity and parental protection.     In the area of employment, the aim shall be to create conditions for reconciling the family and professional obligations of both parents, mainly through arrangement of working time. General principles also provide, inter alia, for a general children's allowance, special assistance for invalid children, maternity benefits and accessibility to primary health care. With regard to maternity leave and leave for the care of a child, it is laid down by law as one year, and the compensation amounts to 100 per cent of the previous wage. The mother is entitled to this for 105 days and both parents thereafter (alternatively). Available in English.
