Part 4 (s. 28-36) regulates provision of health care in private health institutions. Part 5 (s. 37-49) makes provision for special health care. Part 6 (s. 50-53) regulates procedures in case of death. Part 7 (s. 54-56) deals with health workers and other professional workers in health services. Part 8 (s. 57-58) deals with achieving and developing new knowledge. Part 9 (s. 59-71) makes provision for natural balneotherapeutical spas and natural therapeutical springs. Part 10 (s. 72-73) provides for participation of professional organisations, professional corporations and civil congregations in providing health care. Part 11 (s. 74-78) regulates execution of state administration in the field of health. Part 12 (s. 79-81) contains common and final provisions.

    Part I deals with the basic regulations. Part II concerns the bodies of insurance and Part III the management of insurance. Part IV regulates contracts with medical institutions. Part V provides for supervisory procedures.

    Notification No. 163/1994 to amend Notification No. 221/1993 on the scope and conditions of insurance reimbursement for contractual medical institutions.

    Regulations on medical services contain a point system and maximal tariffs for health services. The national insurance reimburses contractual medical institutions according to those regulations. The Ministry of Finance fixes maximal tariffs for each point and each medical service.

    Ordinance No. 18/1994 of the Ministry of the Interior on health insurance.

    Defines conditions and scope of health care as financed by the health fund of the Ministry of the Interior. Health care comprises of preventive measures, stomatological care, medication and medical assistance. Also contains provisions on health care for employees working in an environment with increased health risk.

    Act No. 159/1993 to amend Act No. 14/1993 on national book-keeping and other changes in laws on social security.

    Provides that employers must contribute insurance fees amounting to 9 percent of the total salaries paid for disabled employees' health, hospital and retirement insurance. Also fixes at 1 percent of the total salaries paid the amount to contributed by employers to the disabled workers' employment fund.

    Act No. 7/1993 on installation and financing of health, hospital and retirement insurance.

    Concerns the installation, organization and activities of the National Insurance Company. Provides for the financing and the services of compulsory health, hospital and retirement insurance. Health insurance includes prevention and treatment of diseases and assistance in cases of infertility (paragraph 4). Hospital insurance includes sickness benefit, financial help for motherhood and pregnancy (paragraph 5). Retirement insurance includes pensions for elderly people, disabled persons, widows, widowers and orphans (paragraph 6).

    Health insurance is compulsory for all Slovak citizens living in Slovakia, Slovak and foreign employees of companies with headquarters or subsidiaries in Slovakia, for self-employed workers with residence in Slovakia and for political refugees. The insurance provides free medical treatment, medicine and medical aid during sickness.
