    Act No. 210/2003 to amend the Act No. 311/2001 (Labour Code).

    Extends applicability of Labour Code to employees from EU Member States sent to work with an employer on Slovak territory. Contains numerous amendments regarding, inter alia, the right to strike and lock-out (cl. 10), discrimination (direct and indirect), fixed term employment, reduced working time, temporary assignments and termination of employment (consultation of employee's representative on the decision of dismissal). Supplements the provisions on working time, rest periods, paid leave and average salary. Also amends provisions on works councils (elections, mandate, etc.).

    Regulates the indemnities for work-related travels: work missions in and abroad, temporary transfer to another working place, or for travels from and to the working place. Provides for the rights and duties of the employer as well as employees concerning a work travel. Indicates expenditures of the employee that can be compensated.

    Defines, inter alia, the eligibility for 13th and 14th salaries of certain categories of employees, as well as the right for indemnities in foreign currency for employees who are part of a peace-keeping mission.     The Act regulates extra wages for night work and work in risky and unhealthy environments.

    Ordinance No. 2/1998 which modifies the Ordinance No. 43/1992 of the Government of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic about minimum wages and about salarial compensation for a work in risky and/or unhealthy environments and for night work.

    The minimum wages are divided into 12 classes. The working time is 42 and half hours per week.

    Act No. 366/1997 amending the Act No. 90/1996 on minimum wage.

    The Act raises the minimum hourly wage from 14.60 SKK to 16.20 SKK and the minimum monthly wage from 2,700 SKK to 3,000 SKK.

    Defines the minimum amount of money necessary for the satisfaction of the basic needs of a citizen and for the maintenance of the household. The Act also raises the amounts of various social assistance benefits.

    Ordinance No. 72/1993 to amend Act No. 249/1992 on wages of public servants.

    Provides for payment of a single additional pay to members of the armed and security forces. Allows the employer to increase salary and additional pay by 100 percent if the employee is a gifted athlete or an artist.

    Notification No. 240/1999 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic regarding International Labour Organisation Convention No. 173/1992.

    Slovakia ratified the Convention 173 on 9 September 1998. The instrument of ratification was registered with the Director General of the International Labour Office on 24 September 1998. According to art. 3(1), Slovakia accepts only obligations of the Part II of the Convention; according to art. 4(2), Slovakia excludes from the Convention employees of state and semi-state organisations, as well as of municipal employees.
