    The amendments provide that Act No. 330/1996 on occupational health and safety protection and Act No. 272/1994 on protection of public health are no longer the basic texts for this Ordinance. The amendments concern sections 3, 4, 9, 14 and their corresponding footnotes, as well as Annexes 1 and 2.

    Defines employers' duties concerning prevention and protection against explosion. Sets out guidelines for evaluation of risks of explosions. Also defines duties of employers to coordinate protective measures with other persons who are not employees but independent contractors.
    Incorporates into Slovak legal system the Directive of European Parliament and of Council 1999/92/ES of 16 December 1999. Annex 1 categorizes spaces with explosive environments. Annex 2 lists in details the minimum requirements for assuring the safety and health of persons working in explosive environments as well as the requirement for choice of protective systems and devices. Annex 4 specifies particular measures to be taken in spaces at risk of explosions.

    Defines inter alia the notion of "Working place with ionizating radiation", and different categories of workers working with sources of radiation. It fixes the health conditions and professional qualifications required for such workers. Also provides for the duties of employers and the functions of the State concerning places with natural ionizating radiation.

    Notification No. 78/1993 of the Ministry of Economic Affairs on health security in the production of explosives.

    Establishes the safety regulations in the production of explosives and during the working process. Only skilled employees are allowed to work with these materials. Once a year they must receive further training. Overtime and night work are prohibited except when the working process cannot be stopped. The minimum rest period is 12 hours.
