National Youth Service Act 2016 (No. 4 of 2016). - Adoption: 2016-03-07 | SLE-2016-L-104319 Being an Act to establish the National Youth Service and to provide for other related matters.
The Act provides that any service corp who becomes a member of any trade union shall have his name automatically struck off from the service register (section 48). Laws governing employers and employees shall not be applicable to service corps (section 49).

Redefines terms "employed" and "wages" as used in the Act. Replaces provisions relating to written contracts. Requires medical certificates for those employed with written contracts. Prohibits persons under 15 years of age from entering into a contract of service. Provisions relating to assignment and termination of contracts, status of contract at the time of employee's death. Children and Young Persons Act, 1945 (Cap. 44). - Adoption: 1945-12-31 | SLE-1945-L-92357 This Act governs the treatment of juveniles who violate the law. The Act applies to anyone below the age of 17 years old. Anyone who is 17 years or above is treated, for the purposes of criminal law, as an adult. The Act provides for two categories, that of 'child' who is anyone under the age of fourteen years old and 'young person' who is anyone aged between the ages of 14 years up to 16 years old.

Protection of Women and Girls Act (Cap. 30) (No. 2 of 1927). - Adoption: 1927-04-23 | SLE-1927-L-92356 Provides that "any person who procures or attempts to procure any girl or woman under twenty-one years of age, not being a common prostitute or of known immoral character, to unlawful carnal connection, either within or without Sierra Leone with any other person shall be guilty of an offence" (Article 2).

Prevention of Cruelty to Children, 1926 [Cap. 31]. - Adoption: 1926-12-24 | SLE-1926-R-70677 Provides that any person over the age of sixteen years, who has the custody, charge, or care of any child, who wilfully assaults, ill-treats, neglects, abandons, or exposes a child shall be guilty of a misdemeanour under the Act. It also provides offences for certain acts to do with the prostitution of a child.
