    Sets up maximum working hours: 8 hours per day and 40 hours on average during a five-day working week, the reference period being 4 months. The average duration of the working week (including overtime) shall not exceed 48 hours. However, it can be extended up to 60 hours if the average working week does not exceed 48 hours during the above- mentioned reference period.

    Makes also provision for rest periods, work planning and night work. Provides for employers' duties, such as duty to record working time and making this record available to the driver.

    Implements EU Regulation No. 3820/85.

    Repeals Act of 24 August 2001 on working time of drivers (Dz. U. 2002, No. 123, , Text No. 1354 and Dz. U. 2002, No. 149, Text No. 1452).

    Order No. 81 of 3 February 1997 of the Minister of Transport and Maritime Economy on vocational training in the form of refresher courses for drivers of vehicles transporting dangerous substances.

    Defines institutions authorized to provide vocational training in the form of refresher courses, conditions of conducting such training as well as conditions to be fulfilled by persons applying for such training. Authorized institutions shall be identified by the local chief representative of the State administration (voivod) who shall issue authorizations for conducting such training courses after assessment of submitted applications. Such applications for authorization shall include information as to facilities, teaching programmes, and qualifications of the teaching staff. The Order does not define the term "dangerous substances".
