The service aims at protecting workers against negative effects of unfavourable conditions of work in relation with the workplace as well as to conduct preventive health care for workers. The occupational health service consists of medical doctors, nurses, psychologists as well as other persons with professional qualifications necessary to fulfill multidisciplinary tasks within the service. The service shall be organised in units independent from employers, workers and their representatives, and from other persons. Further defines organisational structures and competences of the service.

Also provides for special medical examinations for employees working in the production of commodities containing asbestos.

    Training activities in the field of occupational safety and health are carried out by the employers. They should provide participants with: information on occupational hazards (occupational accidents and diseases) connected with performed work; information on occupational safety and health within the range necessary for performing work at a definite post as well as obligations and responsibilities in the field of occupational safety and health connected with this post; ability to perform work in a safe way, from the standpoint of the worker's and other people's safety, as well as procedure in a situation of accident (damage) and ability to render assistance to victims of employment accidents. Training in the field of occupational safety and health is conducted as preliminary training and as periodic training and skills development. Frequency of periodic training is determined by the employer in agreement with a trade union organization at the establishment level. The periodic training is particularly aimed at updating and improving employees' knowledge and skills.
