Provides for wage increases and includes formula for determining equivalent monthly statutory minimum wage rates. Chapter I contains provisions on workers paid by results (s.9), wages of apprentices, learners and handicapped workers (s.10), effects on existing wage structure (s.16), inspection and complaints (ss.17,18), payment of wages (s.19), exemptions (s.15). Chapter II governs the National Wages and Productivity Commission and the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards. Chapter III deals with minimum wage determination. The National Wages Council and the National Productivity Commission established under Executive Orders Nos. 614 and 615 are abolished.

An Act Strengthening the Prohibition on Discrimination against Women with Respect to Terms and Conditions of Employment, amending for this purpose article 135 of the Labor Code, as amended (Republic Act No. 6725). - Adoption: 1989-05-12 | Date of entry into force: 1989-05-12 | PHL-1989-L-8153 This Act amends s.135 of the Labor Code (LS 1974-Phi. 1A) to strengthen the prohibition of discrimination against women with respect to terms and conditions of employment. It defines discrimination as paying lesser compensation to a woman for work of equal value and favouring a male employee on account of sex with respect to promotion, training opportunities, study and scholarship grants. In addition to penalties provided under the Code, the aggrieved employee may file a claim for money damages and affirmative relief.

An Act providing for an increase in the wage of public or government sector employees on a daily wage basis and in the statutory minimum wage and salary rates of employees and workers in the private sector and for other purposes (Republic Act No. 6640). - Adoption: 1987-12-10 | PHL-1987-L-7389 In addition to increasing the minimum wage, contains provisions regarding the resolution of disputes in relation to wage structure distortion. Workers paid by result or on a piecework basis shall receive not less than the applicable statutory minimum wage for eight hours' work (or proportion thereof for fewer hours). Learners, apprentices and handicapped workers are entitled to 75 percent of the minimum wage. Provides for exceptions and penalties. Repeals inconsistent legal provisions.

Executive Order No. 111 amending certain provisions of the Labor Code, as amended. Adoption: 1986-12-24 | PHL-1986-R-3060 These amendments primarily address trade union representation and procedures governing the right to strike. The Order also amends ss. 60 and 61 regarding the employment of apprentices and the contents of apprenticeship agreements, as well as s. 128(b) regarding powers to order compliance with labour standards. The Order replaces the provisions on state policy towards the labour movement (s. 211(c) of the Labor Code (LS 1974 - Phi. 1A (published as s. 210(c))) and changes one of the registration requirements for labour organizations (s. 234(c) (published as s. 233(c))). It amends s. 245 on the right of employees in the public service to organize and bargain collectively and ss. 257 and 258 on representation issues in organized establishments and petitions in unorganized establishments. Sections numbered in the Order as s. 264(c) and (f) and s. 265(d) address the filing of a notice of a strike or lockout and cooling-off periods, the requirements for a decision to declare a strike or lockout, and the prohibition placed on public officials to introduce or escort replacements for strikers. The provisions of ss. 238 and the second paragraph of ss. 239 and 241 (published as ss. 237, 238 and 240) on the structuring of the labour movement are repealed, as is Letter of Instruction No. 1458 to the extent indicated in the Order. The Order becomes effective 15 days after publication in the Official Gazette.
