    The Act provides for the employment, rehabilitation and welfare of
    differently able persons. The definition of "differently able" is any persons who on account of injury, disease or congenital deformity, is challenged for undertaking any gainful profession or employment in order to earn his livelihood and includes a person who is blind, deaf, physically challenged or mentally challenged.

    Amends the Disabled Persons (Employment and Rehabilitation) Ordinance, 1981 (Ordinance No. XL of 1981). Every place where "Federal Government", and "Provincial Government" occur, these shall be substituted by the word "Government". Reference to "Pakistan" shall be substituted by "the Province of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa". Also make various other amendments concerning references to provincial not national application of the Act.

    Mental Health Ordinance, 2000 (No. 8 of 2001).

    Consolidates and amends law relating to mentally disordered persons. Chapter II establishes federal mental health authority, and regulates its powers and functions. Chapter III provides for assesment and treatment of mentally disorderd persons. Section 9 of this chapter regulates duration of periods of detention of mentally disordered persons. Chapter IV deals with leave and discharge of mentally disordered persons from psychiatric facilities. Chapter V provides for judicial proceedings for appointment of guardian of person and manager of the property of the mentally disordered. Chapter VI regulates liability to meet cost of maintenance of mentally disordered person admitted to psychiatric facility. Chapter VII makes provision for protection of human rights of mentally disordered persons, Chapter VIII for offences and indemnity, Chapter IX for inspection of mentally disordered prisoners, and finally Chapter X for forensic psychiatric services.
