    Regulations regarding work agreements are herewith brought in to the Publicatieblad from an earlier ordinance (P.B.1972, No.111) and rendered valid for the entire Netherlands Antilles by national decree. These regulations concern the duration of work, work contracts, work termination, and violations of work agreements. These regulations were initially written in P.B.1972, No.111 and were partially amended in P.B.1978, No.102; P.B.1985, No.55; and P.B.1996, No.22.

    This amends the ordinance of 1972 (Publicatieblad No.111) which was previously amended in Publicatieblad No.55, 1985. It concerns the procedural requirements for employers and employees to terminate employment contracts ("Landsverordening beŽindiging arbeidsovereenkomsten"). Required is that employers fulfil specific obligations as stipulated in the form "Request for Agreement to terminate an employment contract" ("Verzoek om toestemming tot beeindiging van de arbeidsovereenkomst"). This form is published in Publicatieblad No.25 of 28 February 1996. (See also Publicatieblad No.24 of 26 Febr. 1996 for the entry into force of this and the Ordinance of 15 April 1985).

    Amends Section 1639s, subsection 2 of the Civil Code in order to protect the employee refusing to perform stipulated work for reasons of conscientious objection against dismissal.

    Employer and employee are prohibited from terminating a labour relationship without the authorization of the Minister of social affairs and employment. This prohibition applies to termination of work relations by advance notice only. It shall also be forbidden for the employer to reduce the working time of the employee to less than 48 hours a week, providing this would entail a wage reduction.
