Part 2 provides for establishment of European Works Council, and determines procedures for informing and consulting employees. Chapter 3 sets forth special provisions regarding establishment and operation of European Works Council. Chapter 4 contains final provisions.

    Provides for the right to strike and protection from being forced to participate in a strike. Strikes shall be preceded by a period of negotiation, and strikes must be approved by three-fourths of a trade union's members. Defines which types of essential services may not strike. Strikes shall be monitored by the National Labour Inspectorate, which shall have the authority to interrupt or postpone a strike. Full-text version available on-line.

    Act on Public Organisations and their Associations of 15 December 1992.

    In Part I, provides for conditions for the foundation (administration, membership, rights of members), registration, operation (public or entrepreneurial activities, prohibition to form armed or militarised units, monitoring and control of activities) and liquidation of public organisations. In Part II, deals with additional conditions for some public organisations and their associations such as political organisations (chapter 9), open public foundations (chapter 10), corporations or professional societies (chapter 11) and public sports organisations (chapter 12).   14. Latvia - Freedom of association, collective bargaining and industrial relations - Law, Act

    Law of 26 March 1991 on collective labour agreements.

    Adoption: 1991-03-26 | LVA-1991-L-43070

    Comprised of 5 chapters and 19 articles. States that the collective labour agreement shall not limit workers' rights as defined by national legislation. It shall establish, inter alia, the wage payment system, the working conditions and the specific benefit schemes and provide for regulations on occupational safety and health. Chapter III governs the procedures for concluding a collective labour agreement and Chapter IV provides for modes of resolution of disputes arising upon the conclusion, changing and implementation of the agreement.
