    In accordance with Article 9 and point 3 of Article 67 of the Constitution and Articles 4, 9, 14 and 15 of the Law "On Referendum", the Seimas resolves:
    to hold a mandatory referendum on the amendment of Articles 9, 47 and 147 of the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania; to establish that the referendum will be held on 29 June 2014;
    to present for the referendum the draft of the Law amending articles 9 (paras 1, 3), 47 and 147 (para 1) of the Constitution.
    Also establishes, that the Seimas within two months from the adoption of this Law at the referendum, lay down by a constitutional law the procedure for and conditions of the implementation of Article 47 of the Constitution.
    Article 2 of this Law shall enter into force two months after the adoption of this Law at the referendum.

    Aims at ensuring the implementation of human rights laid down in the Constitution and at prohibiting any direct or indirect discrimination based upon age, sexual orientation, disability, racial or ethnic origin, religion or beliefs. Also aims at ensuring the application of the legal acts of the European Union. Article 5 deals with duty of employer to implement equal treatment at work and article 7 with acts of employer violating equal treatment.

    Provides for the obligation for employers to give equal rights to men and women workers: equal choice criteria during admission to employment, and an equal working conditions and training possibilities, and an equal wage for equal work.     Decree No. 7 of 4 January 1995 on social benefits.

    Provides for social benefits payment to families without minimum guaranteed revenues. Eligible parties are a) parents working on labour contract or without employment for the following reasons: studies, unemployment without benefits, pensioners or invalids without benefits, b) one of the parents does not work for the following reasons: ill family members, children aged less than 3 years or less than 8 years if more than 3 children aged less than 16, pregnancy, etc. These benefits can also be granted to families without children and to single persons if they do not work for the same reasons.
