    Changes the title of the Act by replacing "Code" with "Act" and also amends all other sections where "Code" is mentioned and replaces this with "Act". Following the adoption of these amendments by the parliament, the Government published the date for the entry into force of the 2006 Labour Act.

    AN ACT to give effect to and to implement the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, and to provide for related matters.

    The object of this Act is to prescribe measures to prevent and combat trafficking in persons with particular regard to victims who are women and children, by
    (a) protecting and assisting victims of trafficking, having due regard to their human rights;
    (b) facilitating the efficient investigation of cases of trafficking in persons;
    (c) facilitating the just and effective punishment of individuals and organizations involved in trafficking in persons;
    (d) promoting cooperation between Saint Lucia and other States in order to prevent and suppress trafficking in persons and to punish offenders.

    Amends the title of the principal Act by deleting "Poverty Reduction Fund Act" wherever it appears and replacing it with "Saint Lucia Social Development Fund Act". It also establishes a Board of Directors for the Fund and lists the participants in the board (section 10). Various other related amendments are made to section 2 and 11(3) of the Act.

    Provides for establishment and management of correctional facilities. Divided into 8 parts. Part 1 (s. 1-2) contains preliminary provisions. Part 2 (s. 3-5) provides for constitution of correctional facilities, lock-ups and legalised police cells. Part 3 (s. 6-8) regulates appointment, administration, powers and duties of correctional officers. Part 4 (s. 9-15) deals with powers and duties of correctional officers. Part 5 (s.16-28) regulates custody and removal of persons detained. Part 6 (s. 29) provides for juvenile delinquency. Part 7 (s. 30-38) makes provision for discipline and control of inmates. Section 30 sets forth duty of inmates to carry out duties and tasks assigned to them. Part 8 (s. 39-49) contains miscellaneous provisions.

    Allows owners of small-scale enterprises to apply for registration as a micro or small-scale business enterprise. Registered enterprises shall qualify for financial relief under the Fiscal Incentives Act, 1974, provided that they are considered to be in a priority area and have achieved significant growth and created employment in the past 2 years, and if they operate in an environment-friendly manner.

    Provides the Saint Lucia Constitution. Chapter I provides protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, including protection of the right to life, liberty, freedom of conscience, expression, assembly and association, as well as protection from inhuman treatment, slavery, forced labour, and deprivation of property. Chapter II concerns the post of the Governor-General; Chapter III the Parliament; Chapter IV the Executive. Regulations affecting the public service, including teachers, are set forth in Chapter VI. Chapter VII governs citizenship and Chapter VIII provides judicial provisions. Existing laws shall remain in effect unless modified or abrogated (Schedule 2, s. 2).
