    Official revised 1998 edition of the 1969 Constitution, including amendments incorporated in Act No. 9, 1997. Significant changes include: Chapter 1, s. 1A - Specifies that the Republic of Kenya shall be a multi-party, democratic state; Chapter 2, s. 7 - provides for the resumption of the presidency; Chapter 3 - changes procedures for the appointment of the Election Commission and makes it responsible for the promotion of free and fair elections; Chapter 5, s. 82 and 84 - provides, respectively, new protections against discrimination based on sex and recourse to the Court of Appeal in cases involving Fundamental Rights and Freedoms.
