    Comprehensive legislation on protection of children. Divided into 18 parts. Part 1 defines objective and scope of act. Applies to individuals under age of 18. Sets forth right of children to protection and care. Rights of children shall be maintained in accordance with their age and development. Parents are obliged to treat children with care and consideration. Parts 2 and 3 establish authorities in child protection. Part 4 regulates notification and other obligations to child protection authorities. Part 5 provides for initiation of child protection case, Part 6 for arrangements made by child protection committees, Part 7 for other arrangements made by child protection committees, and Part 8 for child committee procedure. Part 9 regulates procedures of child protection appeals board, Parts 10 and 11 special procedures in court proceedings, Part 12 placement in foster care, and Part 13 homes and institutions for which the state is responsible. Part 14 deals with homes and other arrangements on the responsibility of municipalities, Part 15 with division of costs of child protection activities, Part 16 with placement of children by other parties than child protection committees, and Part 17 with general protective measures.     Applies to work of individuals under age of 18. Divided into 9 parts. Part 1 contains definitions, and regulates scope of application. Part 2 contains general provisions regarding work of youths under the age of 18. Regulates hazard assessment, guiding and teaching, and organisation of safety measures. Part 3 provides for unauthorised work for youths under age of 18. Contains list of unauthorised work. Also contains provisions regarding vocational training, dangerous equipment and projects, dangerous substances and physical strain. Part 4 regulates work time of adolescents. Part 5 deals with employment of children between 13 and 15 as well as those in compulsory schooling. Provides list of unauthorised work for children. Part 6 makes provision for work of youths of 13 or older at Municipal Youth Summer School. Part 7 regulates work time of children between 13 and 15. Part 8 provides for work of children and adolescents in cultural events, sports and advertising. Part 9 deals with complaints, penalty and entry into force.

    Entitles providers for disabled and seriously ill children to benefits from the national insurance system. Made under Act No. 118 of 1993 on social assistance as amended through Act No. 152 of 1995.     Contains inter alia provisions regarding occupational surveillance of children and young persons. According to the Act, "children" are persons younger than 16 years of age and "young persons" are between 16 and 18 years of age.

    Regulation No. 150 of 1992 on financial aid for the providers of handicapped and sick children.

    The regulation states that the providers of handicapped and sick children from the age of 3 months to 16 years have the right to financial aid in special cases. The State Social Security Institute (SSSI) decides on the benefits and the Regulation provides for different cases in which providers can be granted financial aid. The SSSI must decide the length of the period, which cannot exceed three years. If necessary, the SSSI can decide on another period. Benefits can also be granted retroactive to two years. The Municipal Center for the Handicapped shall receive all necessary information from the SSSI.

    Act No. 58 of 1985 to amend Act No. 55 of 1980 on working terms and pension rights insurance.

    Should a pension fund member, who has the right to take maternity leave under the Act No. 97 of 1980, decide to leave her/his former job, the fund shall be obliged to grant the member continued membership on the same basis for up to 7 years, provided the member undertakes to pay the part of the contribution payable by the employer as well. Such member shall have rights equal to those of other members, inter alia, concerning loans.
