Chemicals Act 2008 (No. 13 of 2008). - Adoption: 2008-07-15 | IRL-2008-L-85924 An act to regulate and control the manufacture, use, placing on the market, export, import, transport, testing, storage, classification, labelling and packaging of chemicals; to make provision in relation to major accident hazards, and the prevention of accidents, involving chemicals; for those purposes to give further effect to Regulation (EC) No. 304/2003 of the European parliament and of the Council of 28 January 2003 concerning the export and import of dangerous chemicals , Regulation (EC) No. 648/2004 of the European parliament and of the Council of 31 march 2004 on detergents and Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 of the European parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals (reach) and establishing a European chemicals agency ; to confer power on the minister for enterprise, trade and employment to make regulations for the purpose of giving effect to certain provisions of the treaties governing the European communities and certain acts of the institutions of those communities; and to provide for matters connected therewith.
Amends the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, section 34(1), by inserting after paragraph (d) the following:"(dd) to perform the functions conferred on the Authority by the Chemicals Act 2008," and in Schedule 6, paragraph 5, by substituting "paragraph 4" for "paragraph 3".

Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) (Amendment) Regulations 2003 (S.I. No. 277 of 2003). - Adoption: 2003-06-30 | IRL-2003-R-68175 Amends Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2001 by substituting revised Ninth Schedule relating to "FAS Construction Skills Certification Scheme". Allows all new starters in a range of specified tasks in the construction industry have the facility to gain experience on site before they undergo necessary FAS Construction Skills Certification training programmes. Also provides for restructuring of relevant training programmes.

Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Fishing Vessels) Regulations, 1999 (S.I. No. 325 of 1999). - Adoption: 1999-10-19 | IRL-1999-R-68193 Gives effect to Council Directive 93/103/EEC on minimum health and safety requirements applicable to work on board fishing vessels. Sets out duties of owners in this regard, including duties in relation to provision of information, training, instruction and consultation of workers.

Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations, 1995 (S.I. No. 138 of 1995). Adoption: 1995-06-01 | Date of entry into force: 1995-06-06 | IRL-1995-R-41575 Implements Council Directive 92/57/EEC. The regulations prescribe the main requirements for the protection of safety, health and welfare for persons working on construction sites. Places an obligation on clients and designers to ensure health and safety is taken into account before any construction work begins. Contractors shall ensure that the work on site is properly coordinated and carried out in a safe manner. Revokes Construction (Safety, Health and Welfare) Regulations 1975.

Safety, Health and Welfare (Offshore Installations) Act 1987. No. 18. Adoption: 1987-07-22 | IRL-1987-L-3824 An Act to provide for the safety, health and welfare of persons on installations concerned with the exploration for or exploitation of petroleum or other minerals in the waters in or surrounding the State, and generally for the safety of such installations and the prevention of accidents on or near them. The Act delineates responsibilities in terms of maintaining safety and discipline on such installations and outlines the general duties of persons employed thereon. It prohibits the employment of persons under the age of 18 and persons who have not received adequate instruction or training (s. 14). The Act provides for the selection of a safety representative, safety committee and safety delegate and sets forth various recordkeeping and reporting requirements. It also calls for inspection and penalties in case of infringement, and prohibits certain deductions from wages (s. 46).
