    The Act prohibits manual scavenging and the manual cleaning of sewers and septic tanks without protective equipment as well as the the construction of insanitary latrines. Any one who violates the provisions of the Act by employing manual scavengers or failing to demolish insanitary latrines is liable to imprisonment of 1-2 years, and fine of Rs 50,000 - Rs 1 lakh. Anyone who employs a persons for hazardous cleaning of septic tanks and sewers is liable to imprisonment of 2-5 years and/or fine of Rs 2- 5 lakh.
    The Act also provides for the rehabilitation of persons identified as manual scavengers, and their families, including the provision of scholarships to children, housing, training and financial assistance.
    The provisions of this Act shall have effect notwithstanding anything inconsistent therewith contained in the Employment of Manual Scavengers and Construction of Dry Latrines (Prohibition) Act, 1993 or in any other law, or in any instrument having effect by virtue of any other law.

    Every employer is obliged to form an Internal Complaints Committee, at least one third of its members have to be women.

    This committee is constituted to hear complaints of sexual harassment if the company in questions does not have an Internal Complaints Committee if they have less than 10 employees or if the complaint concerns the employer.

    The Act sets up a system for the hearing of complaints against sexual harassment. All employers with over 10 workers are obliged to set up an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). Within three months of the aggravating act, a woman may lay a complaint in writing with the ICC or, in the case of companies that do not have one or when the person concerned is the employer, the complaint is made to the Local Complaints Committee. The Committee, after an inquiry which proves the aggression, then makes a recommendation to the District Officer to drop the case as there is no proof of the allegation, to take action against the aggressor for misconduct and/or make the aggressor pay compensatory damages either directly or through wage deductions. The recommendations of the Committee may be appealed to the appropriate court. Nothing in the Act limits the aggrieved women from taking action under section 509 of the Penal Code concerning the offence of making words, gestures or acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman.

    This amendment makes important changes to the Penal Code of India with respect to crimes committed against women. Amends the following:
    - section 100 of the Penal Code by adding another subsection entitled "seventhly..." concerning the offence of throwing acid;
    - adds a new section 166A and 166B concerning public servants disobeying directions under the law and punishment for non-treatment of a victim;
    - amends sections 228, 326A (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by acid), 326B (voluntarily throwing or attempting to throw acid), 354 (adds new section 354A, B, C and D concerning sexual harassment, assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe, voyeurism, stalking);
    - adds new section 370 and 370A concerning trafficking in persons and exploitation of a trafficked persons
    - amends sections 375 (rape), 376 (punishment for rape), 376A (punishment for causing death or resulting in persistent vegetative state of victim), 376B (sexual intercourse by husband with wife during separation), 376C (sexual intercourse by a person in authority), 376D (gang rape) and 376E (punishment for repeat offenders).
    - section 509 increased the penalty for making words, gestures or acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman from a maximum on one year to a maximum of three years with a fine.

    Amends the Protection of Children from Criminal Offences Act by adding a new section 42 and 42A concerning alternate punishments and provides that the Act will not to be in derogation of any other Act.

    Also makes consequential amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Indian Evidence Act.

    This Act repeals the Criminal Law (Amendment) Ordinance, 2013 (No. 3 of 2013).

    This Resolution repeals the previous Ministerial Resolution of 3rd June 2008. It contains the new composition of the Central Advisory Body on Child Labour. The Minister of Labour and Employment is the Chairperson of the CAB and it has 48 other members on the Body consisting of representatives from other concerned Ministries as well as employers' and workers' organizations, institution, NGOs and other interested parties in Child Labour. Its role is to review the implementation of the existing legislation administered by the Central Government; suggest welfare measures as well as welfare measures for the welfare of working children; review the progress of welfare measures for working children; and recommend the industries and areas where there must be progressive elimination of child labour. The Board is to meet as and when so required by the Chairperson.

    187. (1) The Police Act, 1861, in its application to the State of Sikkim, is hereby repealed.
    (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken or any proceeding instituted under the Act so repealed shall be deemed to have been done or taken or instituted under the corresponding provision of this Act.
    (3) All references in any enactment to any of the provisions of the Act so repealed shall be construed as references to the corresponding provision of this Act.
