Ghana Maritime Security Act, 2004 (Act 675). - Adoption: 2004-11-01 | GHA-2004-L-88534 This Act establishes the Ghana Maritime Security Authority, defines its functions and powers, provides with respect to the administration of the Authority and provides rules relative various matters regarding ships and navigation. The Act provides a framework for the compliance with the International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention. It also refers to operations of oil tankers. In respect of each ship to which this Act applies, a security assessment shall be conducted and a security plan developed and implemented.

Ghana Shipping Act 2003 (Act No. 645). - Adoption: 2003-07-03 | GHA-2003-L-70476 Part IV regulates the engagement and welfare of seafarers, in particualr with respect to crew agreements, wages, occupational safety and health, required provisions and water on board, protection of seafarers from imposition and relief and repatriation. Part VII regulates safety of life at sea. The Act applies to Ghanian ships wherever they may be and other ships wihile in a port or place in or within the territorial and other waters of Ghana (Section 480).

Ghana Seamen's Employment and Welfare Board Rules (No. 77 of 1974) Adoption: 1974-07-15 | GHA-1974-R-5121 Sets forth the requirements and procedures for registration as a seaman (Ghanian citizenship, between 18 and 50 years of age, one valid discharge on training course, medically fit). Contains arrangements for the engagement of seamen through the Employment Centre, and provides for discipline, inspection and penalties for infringements. Issued under s. 308 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1963 (No. 183).
