    Provides for the protection of natural resources as well as the control and management of developments, waste management and pollution control and for the establishment of a National Environment Council. Enterprises may be requested to establish environmental management committees (section 16). The Waste and Pollution Control Administrator may give an order to stop work in emergency situations (section 39). Workers are not to be punished by the employer if they report a contravention of the Act (section 48).

    Comprehensive regulation on health and safety at the workplace. Divided into 27 parts. Part 1 contains preliminary provisions. Part 2 deals with access and egress, Part 3 with workplace cleanliness and hygiene, Part 4 with amenities, Part 5 with buildings and precincts, and Part 6 with confined spaces. Part 7 provides for dangerous substances and hazardous work, Part 8 for electrical installations, Part 9 for emergency facilities and procedures, Part 10 for fire prevention, Part 11 for lighting, and Part 12 for manual handling. Part 13 deals with noise, Part 14 with occupational health and first aid, Part 15 with personal protection, Part 16 with prevention of falls, Part 17 with remote or isolated work, Part 18 with storage, Part 19 with traffic control, and Part 20 with ventilation. Part 21 makes provision for thermal environment, Part 22 for consumption of substances, Part 23 for application of standards, Part 24 for existing buildings and prior approval for new workplaces, Part 25 for offences and penalties, and Part 26 for risk identification, assessment and control. Part 27 repeals a number of sections of the 1971 Factories Act.

    Applies to all workers in Fiji and aboard Fiji ships and aircraft, but does not apply to domestic workers. Part II stipulates that all employers shall ensure the health and safety of their workers. Part III covers workplace arrangements. Establishments of under twenty workers may elect a safety representative; establishments with over 20 workers are required to set up a health and safety committee. Parts V and VI create an Occupational Health and Safety Education and Accident Prevention Fund and an Advisory Board. Part VII contains provisions relating to health and safety inspectors.
