Climate Resilience Act 2018, Act 16 of 2018. - Adoption: 2018-12-19 | Date of entry into force: 2019-01-01 | DMA-2018-L-108949 The Act was drafted following the Category 5 Hurricane Maria, which made landfall on 18th September, 2017 and devastated the country. The Act sets up the Dominica Climate Resilience Policy Board and the Climate Resilience Execution Agency of Dominica (CREAD). The role of Board is to define the measures needed to make Dominica a climate resilient nation in all sectors; to develop a climate resilience plan with CREAD and other bodies; to oversee the operations and task allocation with respect to CREAD and other agencies: and advise the government on promotional and legislative/policy measures to implement the plan. CREAD is accountable to the Board and is responsible for the implementation, drafting and execution of the climate plan.
