Hospitals and Health Care Facilities Act, 2002 (No. 21 of 2002). Adoption: 2002-12-24 | DMA-2002-L-63093 Comprehensive legislation on licensing of hospitals and health care facilities. Applies to licensing and regulation of hospitals, health care facilities, and other health establishments or institutions operated or maintained by the Government. Also provides for establishment of Hospitals and Health Care Facilities Licensing Board. Board is responsible inter alia for issue of licences.

In addition, provides for the establishment of consulative and advisory committees, as well as the appointment of safety officers.

Comprehensive legislation establishing the basic rules for workplace safety and health in factories. Deals, inter alia, with overcrowding, lighting, draining, ventilation, cleaning, supply of drinking water, first aid treatment, the provision of sanitary facilites for workers, protection of the eyes, fencing of certain machines, cleaning of machines, means of escape in case of fire, and rules concerning steam boilers and lifting machines.
