    It adapts the national legislation to the European directives 2009/4/EC of the Commission of January 23, 2009, and 2009/5/EC of the Commission of January 30, 2009.

    It amends the following articles of the basic law No. 86(I) of 2007:
    - article 10: replacing the word "Committee" with the word "committee".
    - article 19: replacing the word "defines" with the phrase "seeks to define"
    - article 20: it adds an appendix III which outlines a detailed list of infractions
    - appendix I: adding a paragraph related to the control of the vehicle's electronic device
    - appendix II: adding a paragraph related to the specialized control software

    Stipulates the supervisory measures as well as the role of the inspectors, and determines the methods of establishing driving hours and rest periods.

    Law No. 47(I) of 2005 implementing Directive 2002/15/EC of 2002-03-11 regulating the working time of persons involved in road transport activities.

    Stipulates the maximum permissible working hours, including hours of work at night and the minimum required periods of rest for persons involved in road transport activities, such as transport of persons and goods, driving, loading and unloading, equipment maintenance, etc. Endows law enforcement officers with the right to inspect premises, vehicles and documents and spells out penalties in the event of infringement.

    Law No. 137(I) of 2004 implementing Directive 88/599/EEC of 1988-11-23 concerning the enforcement of checking procedures as regards working and resting hours of drivers employed in the road transport sector.

    Determines the level of enforcement required to ensure compliance with existing common rules for standard checking procedures in the professional road transport sector, as these have been laid down in EC Regulations 3820/85, 3821/85 and 2135/98.

    Provides for the organisation of the Civil Aviation of Cyprus and in particular the qualifications of the personnel and the social protection for all Civil Aviation employees.

    Act No 131(I) of 2002 to regulate hours of work and rest periods of drivers and other relevant matters.

    Daily working time shall not exceed 9 hours but can be extended to 10 hours twice a week. As a general rule, every 24 hours a driver is entitled to a minimum of 11 continuous hours of rest.

    Categories of motorised vehicless for public use are as follows: a)urban and extra-urban taxis, b)agrarian taxis, c)urban, extra-urban and tourist buses, d)agrarian buses, e)motorised vehicles for international rural transport, f)buses for transports under contract, g)truck-transporter "A" and h)private buses. It is understood that the persons licensed for the latter categories are also licensed for the former ones.
