    The Law amends Laws N A5 of 1960, 55 of 1968, 210 of 1990, 77(I) of 2009 and 201(I) of 2012 related to Dock Workers and the regulation of their employment. It specifically amends definitions of article 2 and abolishes article 2A.

    The Law amends Laws N 5 of 1960, 55 of 1968, 210 of 1990 and 77(I) of 2009 related to Dock Workers and the regulation of their employment. It specifically amends article 3(1) concerning the employment regulation and the establishment of a "Dock Work Council", competent for the regulation of wages and of the employment and working conditions in one or more ports. It further adds new paragraph (3) to article 3, concerning the coverage of extraordinary needs in dock workers by the existing registered dock workers of every "Dock Work Council".

    It amends the article 4A of the basic law (No. 5 of 1960) by changing the thematic headline with the headline "tax payment by the employers" and amending paragraph 1b with the following text "those responsibilities are effectuated either during the regular working hours, or during extra hours".

    Act No 70(I) of 2000 to provide for the imposition of a special tax on the revenues of dockers and tally-men, and allow for the creation of a special fund for the payment of a loan concerning compensation of retired dockers and tally-men.

    Stipulates that all employers and merchant marine agents are obliged to pay a special tax of five per cent on the revenues of dockers and tally-men under their employ to enable the full repayment of a loan taken out to meet current needs for the compensation of retired dockers and tally-men. This tax is to be paid to a special fund created for this purpose, called "Special Fund for the settlement of the loan destined to compensate the retired dockers and tally-men". Provisions for the fund's organisation and management, along with the conditions for its repayment, and sanctions and penalties for non compliance are also set out.

    Provides for the establishment of Port Labour Boards for the purpose of regulating the wages and conditions of engagement and employment of port workers and for the performance of other functions in relation to such engagement/employment.
