The Law provides that clauses 9, 10 & 11 shall be added to the first paragraph of Article 38 of Law No. 24 of 1976 on Social Insurance as follows:

11- If one year has elapsed since the insured began to practice a commercial activity or freelance vocation after the end of service".

Section 9 of Law No. 18 of 2006 concerning the Social Insurance is amended and replaced as follows:
"under no circumstances shall a monthly social assistance be less than 70 (BD) per single person, 120(BD) for a family of two, and, 25 (BD)per individual member of a family of more than two".

Section 7(2) of Law No. 13 of 1975 is replaced as follows:
If sections 5 and 6 of this Law are not applicable, any employee may add any period of service during which he/she has worked for the Government, as well as at private sector, to the new period of service at the time he/she begin to work as a civil servant. An employee non Bahraini may also add such period of service if he/she acquires the nationality of Bahrain subject to pay its contributions as provided for in section 11 of this Law.

Law No. 50/2009 Amending Several Provisions of the Social Insurance Law No.24/1976.

An additional paragraph is added to the end of each of article 39, 41 and 57 of the Social Insurance Law.
The new paragraph at the end of article 39 discusses an addition of 3% to the salary starting from January of each year. The new paragraphs at end of article 41 and 57 also emphasise that in all cases, a yearly addition to the salary should be added as stated in article 39.

The Decree is about refraining from buying the compulsory service period or merging the previous service period of employees, officers and individuals. Article 1 sets the rules for employees, officers and individuals on how to refrain from the merging. Article 2 provides different payment plans that follow chart No. 5 annexed to the bonuses, salaries and retirement Act of government employees.

Provides for voluntary insurance of Bahraini nationals under section 1, subsections 5 and 6 of the Social Insurance Act (No. 24, 1976). Coverage includes old-age, disability and survivors' benefits. Applicants must be between 18 and 50 years of age. The General Social Insurance Authority established by Legislative Decree No. 24 of 1976 will set up a special fund for the purposes of the Order. Detailed provisions are made for the amount of contributions, termination of membership, etc.

Provides that any worker who has contributed towards old-age, disability and survivors' benefits under the compulsory scheme for at least five years may, if he no longer qualifies for compulsory insurance, continue to contribute on a voluntary basis. Provides that civil servants subject to the provisions of Act No.13, 1975, as amended, shall, for the entire duration of their absence from work due to an occupational accident, receive an amount equivalent to their former salary in addition to their statutory entitlement to compensation from the pension fund.
