Also amends, inter alia, the Wages Act (54/1956), Pension Act (340/1965), Contract Employment Act (86/1948), Provincial Teacher Act (302/1984), Agricultural and Forestry Teacher Act (296/1985), State Agriculture and Forestry Worker Act (280/1980), Judges Act (305/1961), Maternity Protection Act (221/1979), Parental Leave Act (651/1989), Social Security (Small Scale Industry) Act (560/1978), Social Security Act (189/1955), Public Servants' Sickness and Accident Insurance Act (200/1967), and the Farmers' Sickness Insurance Act (559/1978).

    Working time in health institutions shall not be more than an average of 48 hours a week over a period of 17 weeks, and not more than 60 hours in any given week. The period of time over which an average working time is calculated may be extended to 26 weeks through a collective agreement on the enterprise level. Also provides for rest time and overtime pay. The Act applies to doctors, medical technicians, and nurses.

    Limits work to 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week, and regulates overtime and mandatory periods of rest. Apprentices above the age of 15 may be employed after 4AM under certain conditions; women apprentices may only be employed before 6AM if the employer can guarantee or provide safe transport to and from the workplace.
