    Federal Law No.6 of 2014 on the National Military Service and Reserve Force. - Legislation on-line in Arabic

    Establishing of the National and Reserve Service Authority at the General Headquarters of the Armed Forces has been endorsed. It will be the higher authority to oversee matters relating to national service, which is compulsory for all male citizens aged between 18 to 30 from the date of issuance of the law. Those under this category should be medically fit.

    Enrollment will be optional for women after receipt of consent from their guardian, in accordance with the provisions of the law and associated regulations, decisions, regulations and instructions.

    Board membership is 3 years with possibility of extension"
    Article 6 of Act No. 6/2000 is annulled

    Law No. 1/2008 amending some provisions of Law No. 1/2006 concerning Civil Service in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

    The Law is divided into two main Parts: Part One amends three definitions of Law No. 1/2006 changing it from the management of the employers' affairs to human resource management; the committee for employers' affairs is amended to read the committee for human resources; and the assistance agent(s) is amended to read executive manager(s). Part Two repeals and replaces Articles: 14, 28, 32, 33,39, 45, 53, and 81. Article 53 now reads as follows: "The employee is entitled to paid leave following the approval of the Prime Minister in order to conduct research or further study or duties related to culture, art, literature, science or sports, even if the subject is not related directly to the type of work the employee performs. A chart is annexed stating the conditions for such vacations."

    The Decree states that the basic salary will be increased for civil servants in the departments and bodies of the government of Al Sharika by 25% for national employees, and 15% for the non-national employees as of 1 May 2005.

    This Law includes 5 Articles. It defines application of the law and indicates that the system is to be computerized. It also specifies the wages of civil servants and the amount of compensation the family of a deceased employee is to receive. Repeals and replaces Law No. 1 of 1975 on the Civil Service.

    Applies to all civil and public servants whose salary is determined by the federal budget. Makes provision for the nomination of civil and public servants, the establishment of the Civil Service Council, reporting on the work of civil servants, promotions and wage increases, transfers, rest and leave, duties and prohibited activities, disciplinary measures, and termination of employment.
