Second Region

This Act amended the Criminal Procedure Act, 1977 and the Mental Health Act, 1973, so as to deal with the declaration and detention of persons as State patients in terms of the Criminal Procedure Act, 1977, and the release of such persons in terms of the Mental Health Act, 1973, including the onus of proof regarding the mental condition of an accused or convicted person.
