Abstract/Citation
Amends paragraph 19(4)(p) of the Immigration Regulations 1978 by replacing it with a new paragraph which brings it into harmony with the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). It will allow nationals of Mexico as well as nationals of the United States who have legal status in Canada as visitors to apply, from within Canada, for an employment authorization to the extent that fully-reciprocal treatment is accorded to Canadian nationals in the United States and Mexico. The Regulation has a similar purpose and effect with respect to NAFTA as the previous Regulation had with respect to the suspended Canada United States Free-Trade Agreement.
